Planning
- Lesson 1
Groups of three employees are formed.
Each employee starts to prepare his/her own design, using knowledge from the book, the appendices and the internet. Make sure to list the sources that were used.
Lesson 2
Employees get together in their own groups and evaluate the work done by their coworkers. One design is chosen and, if necessary, changed to suit the group’s current ideas. After the changes have been made on paper, the groups start to build the real-life model.
Lesson 3
Building the model.
Lesson 4
Building the model.
Lesson 5
Assessment of the bridges.
Bridges are shortly presented to other groups, explaining about the choices that were made. After pictures have been taken, the bridge is loaded with the toy truck and weights are added to determine the carrying capacity or force the bridge can take. The minimum requirement is that the toy truck, loaded with weights that add up to 1 kg, can drive over the bridge without it collapsing in on itself.
